What is eltonos?

eltonos is a friendly operating system where every application is contained within an isolated container.

Containerized isolation is brilliant because apps cannot affect each other at runtime and interact only via well-defined protocols. Users and administrators can set precise granular policies that control application behavior and provide predictable execution.

Who is the customer?

eltonos is intended for environments where control and predictability is of paramount importance. It is not a general purpose operating system and is intended for environments like kiosks and single-workload servers. eltonos prioritizes the runtime environment over user experience in order to provide system guarantees around execution behavior.

What is the status of eltonos?

eltonos was ideated during a friendly conversation between two amazing humans dealing with the aftermath of 2024 CrowdStrike outage. eltonos is currently a research project.
